Chicago, IL - 2024
On August 19th, 2024, Democratic Party leaders and delegates convened in Chicago to anoint their new presidential candidate, the sitting vice-president Kamala Harris. Hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of individuals also converged in Chicago, taking to the streets and the sites of the DNC to affirm their solidarity with the Palestinian people, express their anger at the actions (or inactions) of the Democratic administration and Party, and to insist a US-backed genocide should indeed be the foremost concern in our upcoming elections. Principal demands of the march included the US use its leverage to end the brutality, implement an immediate embargo of arms and funding to Israel, hold accountable those members of our nation’s ruling class who have been complicit, and stop thwarting Palestinians in their path to peace, self-determination, and freedom from occupation and oppression.
